I have a choice of working with HSBC or Halifax?

I have jobs in both banks for a trainee financial adviser.

Halifax pay slightly lower then HSBC but say that i can make more commission.

So what is it like to work for either of these companies.........I was a mortgage broker before so want to step up..... any tips for me anyone???

I work for one of the 2 banks.

Your motives to join either bank ought to be a little higher than just comission!!!!!!!!

If you want to step up, make a judgement about how both companies will give you the opportunities for personal growth, development and training. How good is their IFA arm (if thats where u wish to go)?

Think about which bank can grow you to develop a good CV.

Is the company pushing you to make commission at the expense of selling products properly. Will the company treat customers fairly? Don't forget it's your FSA registration that will be affected if you sell incorrectly.

look at their products, which would you rather buy?

Financially, compare the financial package on offer - look at their pension scheme, SAYE scheme, share ownership plan, mortgage subsidy etc.

good luck

HSBC doesnt have a good reputation,Try Halifax

hay hsbc job is the best for you.coz hsbc now a good company in now a days.u r a mortgaze broker .... so u can show ur exp. in related fields.

I've worked for the Halifax in their mortgage dept. I really enjoyed working for the Halifax in the main. They are probably correct in saying you could earn more commission just simply because their share of the mortgage sector is much bigger than the HSBC's.

I also agree with prior answers - the HSBC definately isn't the greatest bank in the world, that's why I'm now an ex-customer!!

I'd opt for the Halifax but that decision is totally up to you!!!

Good luck!!

One of my best friends went from working as a CSR (with no college degree) in 2000 to West Coast Regional Manager for HSBC. I think they have treated her remarkably well, she loves it there. She has been recruited by other places, but she stays loyal.

She realizes they gave her the opportunity, even though they insisted the individual they hired must have a degree.

So there's one "Yay" for HSBC.
