I have a person that borrowed a lot of money from me and won't pay back.?

I went to BBB Mediation. They contact the person for you and are the go-between us. We have not been able to get this person to show up. BBB mediator has been attempting to set up a time to meet. How long should I wait for this person to respond? When should i fill out the small claim foms and take the person to court?

Do you possess any proof of payment ?
If not, write a letter that you have paid the money and ask for refund as services were not rendered .
Next step, you can drag him to court !

if you have some documentation to show the court then take them to court

Hmmm. This is a hard situation. I would suggest asking the person to pay you back in small pieces. I understand your anger; I've been in a similar position. Perhaps you have to just take this situation as loss, but learn from it. People rarely pay others back, especially if its a "large" amount. When dealing with people, you have nothing to rely on but their word, which now a days does not mean s%!t. If you look philosophically at the situation, if they're coming to you for cash, this means they don't know how to manage their own cash. Let people suffer and hopefully they'll learn to manage their cash.

i have learned from my past experience with these kinds of people or so called friends. i finally made up my mind that i do not need this kind of friends. my new policy is i do not lend out money, period. if they get mad, oh! well, one less bad person to talk to.

I would fill out the paper work for small claims court now, take them to judge Judy

Small claims court. Or write it off as a loss but a lesson well learned that's not worth repeating.

Small claims court, it's the principle of the matter, it could have been resolved earlier. Take them to court, and go on with your life, or let it go and go on with your life.

If you have proof, then file a small claims and a sherrif will personally hand the notice to show up in court. but you have to know the person's address.

Make sure you have written down every date and amount you lent. write where you lent the person money, if you can remember what the person was wearing and what they said. also keep a record of all the dates you and the bbb mediator set up and the dates which s/he did not show up.

If you dont have proof, then continue going to BBB. You may have to accept this as a really expensive experience. I had to learn the hard way too that you just have to be up front and say sorry but no. Moochers will mooch off of anyone as much as they're allowed.

Like the first man said, if you have documentation take him to court and sue for costs and interest as well.
