Is there a such thing as too many credit cards?

I have many credit cards, 8 in fact. two of which are store cards.

Is this too many? i dot have any maxed out

its as follows

Best Buy: 500 out of 600
Sams Club Personal: 100 out of 300
Orchard Bank, Discover, Capital One Mastercard: 0 out of 300
Wamu: 1300 out of 1500
Capital One Visa: 0 out of 500
and
an offbrand one 600 out of 1000

is this bad?

i'm never late on payments and am never stressed about paying them all and am slowly paying them down and my credit score fluctuates between 650 and 710.

am i ok?

thanks

Well your usage is at 59.5% which is to high, you need to keep your total debt to credit ratio below 30% for the best score.

Having said that, many people will say that 1 credit card is to many and others will say there is no limit.

I myself had 14 at one time (only have 3 now) and my credit scores were all over 770 because I managed them well, kept the balances low and paid on time every month.

The number of cards you have does not matter, what does is the way you manage them.

One credit card is too many! If you can't afford to pay for it, you don't need it !!!!!

The only time too many credit cards is bad is when you have so much available credit, it tends to scare off creditors, since you could go into debt very quickly. This is only in extreme cases.

Otherwise, as long as you keep them in good standing, you should be just fine.

Sounds like it..just get those balances down to either paid off or half of what your limit is.

You're fine, though I would personally check to find out what each card's interest rate is and more aggressively pay off any that have higher interest rates so that your money is being used more effectively (meaning flushing less in interest.)

The only time that "too many" credit cards can have any effect on you is, when applying for credit, some creditors will consider the possibility that you could go out in one day and max them all out in one shot and overextend yourself, though considering yours don't even total to 10k, that's not something to be concerned about in your case.

well honestly its not bad to have them but the bad thing is to have a amoutn pending that you need to pay on almost all of them and yes if your good at paying yours bill and keeping up with passwords and usernames on the sites where you pay you should have no problem try and pay off that wamu one its kinda big and i have capitalone try and stick to it only it has a small limit but its fair and in time youll get a bigger limit eat at home not out of a bag lol

Yes there is. It depends on your FICO Score, this number should be below 30. (Debt/Limit) You can get a new card at http://www.applyfastbankcards.com/ or you can get one at visa .com. Anywere you want, just make sure you look at the fine print.

I know it hurts your credit if you have to many open lines of credit, even if they are all paid off. I have 5 or 6 and our credit report said we had too many open lines of credit!
