How can I dispute this item?

There is an apartment on my credit report that I never lived in. They have all my info.I didn't sign any papers but they say I signed a guarantee for someone else. now I owe them money. Will this be deleted from my credit report. As far as I know I was used as a reference so it is no way that they have my signature because have never been there lived there are signed anything.

1. Send the credit bureau a letter saying that you did not sign this guarantee and ask for a copy of the guarantee. If they provide one, check the signature to see if it is a forgery.
2. Download the identity theft affidavit form from the FTC website, fill it the blanks, have it notarized, and send a copy to the credit bureau.
3. Tell the police that the person who gave them your info stole your identity and file the appropriate report. Send a copy of the police report to the credit bureau.

Sounds like someone may have forged your name. I would write a letter to each credit reporting agency explaining this in detail. And demand that it be removed from your report.

Step by Step on how to fix credit report errors.

Ask for proof.............ask for their address and phone............wait..............and then act............may be a scam..........

If you are telling the truth, the first answer from Stephen W is the only one that will get you the result you want.

When you file the police report, you should understand that the person who you name as the offender will be contacted by the police and possibly arrested since ID theft and forgery are very serious crimes.

Sounds like someone may have used your identity. I have personally been a victim of identity theft. Here is what I recommend:

1. Notify the three credit agencies:

Equifax
http://www.equifax.com/
To report fraud, call: 800-525-6285

Experian
http://www.experian.com/
To report fraud, call: 888-EXPERIAN (397-3742)

Trans Union
http://www.tuc.com/
To report fraud, call: 800-680-7289

2. Contact the Federal Trade Commission:
https://rn.ftc.gov/dod/widtpubl$.startup...
or 877-ID-THEFT

3. Proceed to repairing your credit reports. I personally recommend Unified Credit Services http://www.unifiedcreditservices.com . They will have the items hurting your credit removed quickly and effectively. They can also help you with steps 1 & 2.

I had all my negative items removed and have built my credit back up. However, I am not able to get my free credit reports from annualcreditreport.com since the id theft. Instead, I have to call 877-322-8228.

I hope that helps. Good Luck!

Then you need to send them a validation letter.
