How many have actually lost their homes to foreclosure? |
Is it a small percent compared to those who are making their payments and keeping their homes? I haven't seen a percentage rate, but it is a far larger problem than we see on the news. yes but the issue is the rising rate of forclosure the amount is significant, but it is people who could not really afford the homes in the first place. It depends on the area, if you say a percentage...one area could be 53% and very run down, while another could be 3% and twenty homes in a whole county. An important point of this is that now is the time to buy...suze orman expects the market to drop more (maybe up to 20%) after about a year, but it's best to get the good deal now before it is gone. I've only had my house for a year and a half but I make my house payment before I pay any of my bills. I don't plan on losing my house to foreclosure because I'm working on paying it off before anything else also. I was talking to my mil the other day and she mentioned hearing on the news that more homes have foreclosed than at the onset of the Great Depression (of course, there are more people in homes than back then so...). As to the comparison of those making their payments, I have no idea, but there are many tips for not losing your home. Check this site out http://www.hud.gov/foreclosure/ I don't know the number, but across the nation the rate of forclosure doubled from the previous year(s). |
