Do they charge you for a Visa or Discover giftcard. (Beside the 25 dallers for a 25 daller gift card)?

Does anyone know why they would charge you? (Since it works like a a credit card so they get the 1%?)

People think they are better to give people than cash so will pay it.

Yes, these cards are such a ripoff. I took my son's card, used it for tolietries about gave him cash.
Thing is
they charge you a few to purchase it ($6.00), then there are the MONTHLY FEES
I suppose they vary but they are incured from the day of PURCHASE so if someone got one of these for you on Thanksgiving, you have already paid monthly fees on it before you even opened your present.
I think that this is a rotten gift for a child
