Has any 1 ever been took to court for a matter of 拢1000, i owe it to a debt collecter but cant pay it.? |
i lost my job nd cant pay them their money, im not a home owner and live with my parents if the debts been assigned to a debt collection agency then it may well be too late already... the debt agency will be increasing the debt significantly, for every visit, every letter, phone call or what ever. All you got to say is that you can afford to pay 拢10 a week etc if it gets taken to court. It shows your willing to pay something. Don't let them take you to court. Explain your situation and offer to pay them back in small instalments, they can't refuse a reasonable offer. Failing that get yourself down to the CAB (Citizen's Advice Bureau) for help If you go to court you will be given a CCJ which is not so bad the court will ask you for a list of your finances and will then decide on a realistic amount to pay back in instalments don t worry mate Hi, I am quite sure unless its owed to the council or tvlicsence they cant take you to a court of law. Maybe a cliams court or something like that. But they will just ask you to pay a littel a week Sounds like the typical injustice of the legal system. offer them a 拢1 a week if they refuse the offer which they wont , they will never take you to court as long as you offer something. Whatever you do don't part with any money and don't let the debt collector bully you. Explain your circumstances and that you want to repay the full amount but over a longer period. If they don't like that go to the county court and ask for help with an administration order. This lets you pay at a set rate and there is the possibility that you will end up not having to pay the full amount or any interest. Offer a nominal amount each week until you've paid it off. Things sound bad enough for you as it is without having the hassle of having to go to court and have a bad credit rating. If you owe it, you should be honour bound to pay it back. You cant just write it off and they will take you to court. 拢1,000 is better in their pocket than yours is how they will see it. Make a fair offer and I'm sure you can sort it out without legal intervention (and you'll have costs to pay!) Offer them what you can afford. They will try to tell you , you have to pay more but don't give in. If you pay nothing a county court judgement will be issued against you . It will stay on your credit file for 6 years after it is paid off. On the plus side if it goes to court you will have to give them a rundown of your weekly payments and the chances are you will be allowed to pay off your debt at a small amount. that fact that you are no longer working means youll most probably be getting benefits for a while so therefore they will have to accept whatever you can afford. Do not try and ignore them though, it will work in your favour to remain in contact. youll find that they will give you more leeway if they can see you are trying. |
