Who would I need to call in order to change something on my credit? |
I was checking my credit report and found something negative that was, I thought, worked out. I had a big ballon payment on my car at the end of the term so when that time came I called and worked out a payment plan with the lender but specifically asked if this new arrangement would hurt my credit. I was told no it wouldn't and now on my credit report is says I was past 90 day late then went to collections, which was never known to me because I just made my payments accordingly to the new plan and I never got a letter or call saying it was in collections. Do I dispute this or just have to take it because it shows a strong payment history leading up to the new payment plan and I don't want to lose that. What are my options? if this is a current and active account that you are continuing to make payments upon, I would have a calm, sane, orderly conversation with the lender. Make sure that you are speaking with someone who has the authority to fix things (usually dept manager or above), get their name and address. Get it all hammered out and then follow up with a letter recapping your conversation. Call your lender and straighten it out. |
