Question on credit card fraud?

I went into a store and bought a product, the cashier said we have been having problems with the computer accepting credit cards, she ran mine and the said it wouldn't accept it, I paid cash, I think the computer accepted my credit card, and she took the cash and pocketed it. I haven't gotten my credit card statement yet, but if it is billed to me, can I press charges on the cashier? I have no reciepts, just my credit card records and my word. Do you think I can at least get her Fired?

I would call the credit card company...then go to the store and talk to a manager. Explain the situation....and show them the proof that your card went through. She might get into trouble...but with no proof that she pocketed the cash....it's hard to accuse.

Did you keep your receipt? Your receipt would show a cash purchase. Then you can prove you bought it with cash and not credit card. Even without the receipt, you can still call the credit card company and tell them you are disputing the charge. They will put you through your dispute process where the merchant has to prove you purchased the item with the card. If they can't show a signed receipt, then they have no proof and the charge is reversed. Simple as that. Good luck!

Please tell me you have a receipt? Without that it is your word vs. their word. They might refund the money to keep you happy, but odds are the scammer won't be punished. With proof of both cash and credit purchase the scammer would have some explaining to do. At the very least you would get your money back then.
