Citbank- debt collectors.?

I had three credit cards with citibank, I just paid one off, then made payments on the two others, then within two weeks, I strat getting calls and find out my two accounts left went into collections. How is this possible when I just made payments? Isn't this illegal? What can I do?

No offense, but why aren't you calling your creditor to get an answer? It sounds like you may have been late on your accounts, and made a few payments, but not enough to be brought current. You need to be talking to you creditor.

Call then and find out.

Its Chase...If you were late yeah its perfectly legal. I would pay those cards off and cancel every one of them. Its Chases way of getting more of your money. Don't be surprised if they go ahead and raise your interest rates too.

Were you behind on the other two or current? If you were behind, thats why they went into collections. If you were in fact current, then you need to talk to Citibank.
They treat each account separately - the fact that you paid off one does not give you any grace with the others.

...call the Bank... ask someone in Management to address your questions... find out the status of your account(s) and why etc. etc. "if" you have collections issues... tell them... "under the conditions of the Fair Dept Collections Act I DO NOT want you to call me anymore" (period)... this will stop the phone calls... "they" can, however, send you lots of mail and begin collection processes if they want to...but the calls will stop... It's Federal law.

get all of your receipts and call them and find out what's going on

if you can provide proof of payments then you need to pull your report and find out if they are reporting that negative on your file and dispute it if possible
