Can Wachovia Bank legally withhold funds from a check I deposited back on Dec. 19?

Now they`re telling me the funds won`t be available til next week. WTF? Do I file a complaint with my state`s Banking Commission? What can I do to get my money?

yes, they can. they do have to follow guidelines as to how many days they can hold the check. this depends on where you live and whether or not the check you deposited was a local check or out of state check.

They can legally hold funds for up to 10 days, in some cases longer is checks have bounced in the account.

yes they can hold funds on a check up to i believe 12 to 14 days but they must make the first 100 dollars available but this info is from when i worked at a bank 4 yrs ago laws could have changed a little bit since then in order to help curtail fraud
