Are the top executives at your employer actually smarter than the rest of the employees?

I just started a new job at a very large company. This is the headquarters of a Fortune 500 Company so we have all the big shots working right here. Some of the people are so high up that they have their own floor. They park in their own parking lot, have their own private entrance, go up a special elevator and have a suite of offices that is protected by arm security guards.

If these big shots actually visit the offices of the little people (the rest of us) I can usually tell who they are. They just seem to have more poise and professionalism that most of us. They walk around with a look of supreme confidence and seem more professional in their speech.

Do you notice any differences between your top exectives and the rest of your staff at your company?

Usually the top executives are the employees who have worked very hard to get where they are at in the corporation. Most executives have a master degree, usually an MBA. These executives usually put in 60+ hours per week. Also they all are politically correct.

If it your desire to become an executive, I would suggest finding a mentor within the corporation. Someone you can trust, who is willing to teach you the business.
