What is Wal-marts policy on exchanging or returning an item with no receipt and no tags?

I received a shirt as a Christmas gift, but it doesn't fit. The person did not save the receipt, and he cut the price tag off. I was hoping they would let me get like a wal-mart card or something so that I could pick something out later.

I believe you can exchange it but go this week.

Yep, you get a gift card. They do that in the Walmart's around here too.

Wal-mart is extremely strict,but then again trying wont hurt.

You will probley get a gift card but mabey not because there is no prof it was bought there. Mabe you could give it to goodwill.

I work at a Walmart and I am pretty sure ( not positive ) that if the item rings up less than $20 you get cash and if it is over $20 you get the gift card. I hope you find something you like that fits better!

They will give you the current sale price on a walmart gift card. I did it last week.

if the shirt is in walmart they will allow you to return it for another shirt and if you show them the exact shirt they may even give you your money back..

They will give you a shopping card, as long as they can find the item in your store to scan it.

As long as Wal-Mart recognizes this as one of their items, they won't have a problem giving you a gift card, but if the item was originally bought for $20 and is now on sale for $10, then all you would get on the gift card is $10.

they will ausully take it back,but only for a store credit,the poduct has to be in shape you bought it in.

I think you get up to 3 a year wiht no receipt then after that they do not except cause you can steal from store then go turn it in for money to make money

If it's still got the size & design label inside, they will exchange it for something of the same value or give you store credit.

I used to work at walmart, and if they take it back at all they will first call someone from apparel to prove they sell it then give you a gift card or give you the option to get the same item in a diff size, color...or whatever to componsate for why you are exchanging it. Some walmarts however will not take it back.

Yeah I think you get a store credit, and I think the conditions changed now and you can only do that so many times....

Where I am from ( and it should be the same for all Wal-Marts) they just changed their policy- If you have no tags/no receipts they make you do an even exchange- meaning you have to go get the same type of item/same price and bring it back to the register. They used to issue Gift Cards for the amount your return was worth but they changed that at my Walmart. Good Luck. Oh - they also will ask for your Drivers License. :)

The official policy would be no dice!
But this time of the year and with honest Abe or baby face techniques with the manager, you might get better than just gift card, etc.
