Question about jobs for Columbus, OH natives? |
I'm an English major at Ohio State, and I'll be graduating in the spring so I'm looking for jobs in the Columbus area. Can anyone who is familiar with the Columbus area give me some ideas about where I should apply for jobs (like Nationwide, Abercrombie Home Office, etc). What are some good places to work in this area? Even though I'm a good writer, I'm not looking for a job specific to my major; I'll do any entry-level work really, just as long as it pays the bills. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Well, I am not a Columbus native, but I worked for a large company out of Columbus for 8 years, and I would recommend them to you. It was Exel, which has an office on Polaris Parkway in Westerville. They are a supply chain company, and are now actually a part of DHL. Most of the acquisition pains of being purchased by DHL were already over when I left, so thats not a big worry. But they really might be the biggest company in Columbus, really. As DHL, its around $65 billion a year in revenue, and has somewhere around 500,000 employees. Benefits are good. Lots of opportunity after you have some experience, with internal job postings from around the globe that you can apply for if you wish. There is also generally the opportunity to travel a lot since they are so geographically diverse. Anyway, they are a very solid, good place to work for. I somewhat regret leaving.
