Where can I find out if nursing homes in my area have defficiencies?

You should have a local ombudsman that helps with elder issues. Check with your local AARP, Area Agency on Aging, or Social Services office. Ask for the Long Term Care Ombudsman. Also, nursing facilities are checked by the state each year. Check your state listings for the group that does this. If you can't find it, look in your local phone book for a Governor's Advocate number and they can also assist you with finding what you need.
