Has anyone used Grazie reception hall in Des Plaines, IL?

Has anyone used Grazie reception hall in Des Plaines, IL?

I have not personally, but here is a review that someone else left about the place...."Never trust these incompetent fools with a penny of your money or a second of your time. My wife and I wanted to use their facility for our wedding reception (it is beautiful, no doubt), so we signed a contract with them in Jan. 2007 for an August date. Two days before the wedding, the northwest suburbs experience a major thunderstorm, knocking out power to multiple city blocks, including Grazie. Now, no one can predict when a major problem like this is going to occur, but we all know that Chicagoland experiences major thunderstorms every year. I assumed that Grazie, having been in business for years, would have a plan for this kind of thing, when it popped up. No -- the owners were taken completely by surprise. First, they DID NOT EVEN TELL US that they had LOST POWER!! We found out the night before the wedding -- when my bride's parents stopped by to drop off some last-minute items for the reception on the way to the rehearsal dinner and found the place pitch black. We got in touch with the owner, who explained that he did not see the need to tell us about this situation..."What were you going to do about it?" were his words. At this point, we had less than 24 hours to find a new location for the 200-person reception. The day of the wedding, we scrambled to find a Plan B. At one point, Grazie's owner is talking to the owner of another hall, and HANGS UP on him when the conversation is not going to his liking. I asked him what he was doing to get power back to his facility: his answer is that he is calling ComEd, the power company. His plan was to be one of the tens of thousands of voices screaming at ComEd to get power. I was stunned at his incompetence. He assured me that he had also spoken personally with the Mayor of Des Plaines. I informed him that the Mayor was probably busy trying to get power back on at City Hall and in the police and fire stations. Again, I was shocked that this was his plan. I asked about getting a generator. He had just started calling THE MORNING OF THE WEDDING, 36 hours after the storm struck, and about 32 hours after every rental business in Illinois had rented every generator they had. He said he was calling places in Wisconsin and Indiana...but he needed to get an electrician out to study his electrical system, because he was not sure what kind of generator he needed. You can imagine the rage I was feeling because of his feeble strategy. In the end, he did manage to move everything over to The Crystal Palace in Park Ridge, who in 5 hours put together a spectacular reception, including the wedding cake, which Grazie never baked. I implore anyone looking for a reception hall to ignore Grazie."
