What would be the best type of shop to open when I have a space on Irving Park(between kedzie and kimball)?

I was thinking about opening a small cafe that people could just walk in and grab coffee or smoothies or packed snacks. There would be space outside to sit and chat, and ice cream in the summer.

The space is 850 sq. ft ( I have access to a seperate storage room where i can also put a fridge) and it is across from a condominium. 2 stores down is a daycare, and and 4 stores down is a golden nugget restaurant.

I would guess (not sure) that the people living in the area would mostly consist of middle class families and many hispanics. ( I've talked to the daycare and the majority of kids they take care of are hispanic.)

I just wnated input on whether opening a cafe would be a good idea. Maybe some other type of store (give an example?) would be a better idea?

Thanks very much for your input.

open a cafe that specializes in mexican food

is there a school around there? kids could stop after school and buy candy or chips or something

never been around that area and if i have i dont remember

mexican food stands are a dime a dozen around that area. i like the coffee shop idea - you should have espresso drinks for sure since there is not a starbucks in the immediate area. the ice cream idea is great too - maybe italian ice and frozen yogurt. also just make it a deli specializing in home made soups and sandwiches including paninis and such. good luck !!!!
