Around how much is the starting wage for retail in Chicago?

What is around the "normal" starting wage in Chicago for retail? (ex. Old Navy, H&M, Gap, Urban Outfitters, etc.) Also does anyone know the hourly wage for a server without tips?

Minimum wage in the state of Illinois is $7.50 an hour.

It is around $7 if you have no experience.

Depending on the location and the volume of sales at the store you may get more then minimum wage:

Here's the breakdown of minimum wages in Illinois (Applicable to employers of 4 or more employees, excluding family members)
07/01/2007 - $7.50
07/01/2008 - $7.75
07/01/2009 - $8.00
07/01/2010 - $8.25

If the person if under 18, it is 50 cents less an hour.

The Minimum Wage Law does not apply to the following: employers who employ less than four employees; employees in domestic services in or about a private home; outside salespeople; employees of a religious organization; certain agricultural and aquacultural employees; and student employees at an accredited Illinois College or University covered under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
