Can I reasses my income tax return??

I'm a single mom, and I didn't know that I can claim my house rent. I already did my tax return will I be able to ask another accountant to reasses my tax return?

The immediate answer above is for the US. For Canada, see below comment.

If you need to make a change to the tax return you have sent to the CRA, do not file another return for the same year. Instead, you can make an online request or send to the |CRA a completed Form T1-ADJ, T1 Adjustment Request, or a signed letter providing the details of your request along with supporting documents.

You can claim part of your rent only if you work from home.... and it would be a portion related to the space you use. Be very carefull when using this deduction because if the IRS audit your taxes and you do it the wrong way your will end paying a penanty + interest on that money you deduct....

You as a single mother have a marital status as a HEAD OHF HOUSEHOLD and have 2 dependent to claim, you and your son, and if the is a baby you can clain care expenses as day care, after school classes and others and tax chlid credit.... use these and do not make a mistake with the rent....

Since you know what you missed, you can just complete a T1 adjustment.

Yes you can file an amendment.
