PST and GST for a Web only business? |
I live in British Columbia and Im thinking to start an online business. Basically the business would only operate from the web. I would be giving clients live online software training via my website. All transactions would be done via Paypal. Because clients would only be required to give their email addresses to log on and take the live sessions, I would have no way of knowing or verifying their physical address. Ultimately, they could take my courses from anywhere in the world online. You would contact the Provincial Ministry of Revenue, as well as the GST people, and ask for their advice on the situation. Yes you would. GST always. Yes. You pay income tax on whatever income you make (regardless of where it comes from) and GST/PST are consumption taxes based on what you buy. How would an online-only business absolve you of those requirements? |
