Do I need to pay taxes for items shipped to me from the US? (Canada)? |
I bought two external hard drives on Ebay delivered to me from the US (I'm in Canada). Is it normal to be charged tax from the post office? Okay thanks to quizzard now I know that I do (damn). So now the question is, is there any way to avoid paying the tax? yeah, you'll pay GST when it crosses the border, usually collected by Canada Post if they are the shippers. You pay both taxes, not just GST. Its the same as buying something in the states and bringing it back across the border. If it was inexpensive you won't have to pay though. |
