Can i stop my employer from taking taxes, i want to have my account do it?

Can i stop my employer from taking taxes, i want to have my account do it?

No, you may not. Your employer is required by law to withholding taxes from your monthly or bi-weekly paycheques, based on your TD1 form filed with your employer showing your eligible deductions that would reduce your taxes (or eliminate your taxes if your income is low and your eligible deductions exceed the income). Your accountant can double check if the tax withholding is correct, and prepare your annual tax return.

Yes there is a way.

You can write a letter to the Canada Revenue Agency asking for permission for your employer to reduce withholdings. You must demonstrate that your employer will be taking off too much tax.

This is often done when taxpayers qualify for significant tax reductions such as the Overseas Employment Tax Credit.
