Deduction for a dependant living abroad?

Here the dependant is a parent 70+y.o. living outside of Canada on the annual income equivalent to about Cd$ 800. If I support my parent can I deduct the amount?

Once again, IGNORE the US answer above. Why can't they read the category?

In CANADA, a person is only entitled to deduct an amount for dependents living with them. That pretty well implies they aren't abroad.

You dont specify where? Theres a tax treaty with dependents
living in Mexico and when you file your taxes you fill out
form w7 get their birth cert, any other id from that country
school records, shots, have them notarized and then you
send it to a specified address to IRS ITN and 4-6 weeks
later you will get an ITIN NO. for that dependent but if its
for another country im not sure, if its blood related , son,
nephew, it think its called status adjustment but you have to
deal with INS (iMMIGRATION) maybe getting a ssn.

well if this person is a dependant, and living abroad, then he or she is not depending on you right?

You'll have to clarify. Are you referring to the tax credit for children under age 18? Or the eligible dependent tax credit? Or?
