Who do you file an amended Canadian income tax return?

Who do you file an amended Canadian income tax return?

You file an amended tax return when you notice a mistake in your prior tax year tax return. You may identify the error in a letter to the CRA with supporting document enclosed. Or, you can re-do your prior yr tax return with the word AMENDED on the top right corner of the first page on the tax return, with supporting document for the omitted error earlier, and send it to nearest Tax Centre of the CRA.

The easiest way to amend a return is to send in a T1 adjustment request form (the link is provided below). You use this form to change the specific lines on your tax return to the revised amounts.

You need to send the adjustment to your Tax centre, which will be indicated on your notice of assesment. There is also a list of tax centres on the CRA website in the contact info section.
