If I earn 30k per year, if you add up federal, state/provincial, social security/insurance, etc. what's the difference in tax % between U.S. and Canada? Just in general is fine, but if you want to get specific, what's difference between Alberta and Illinois tax? Illinois: State - $840; Federal - $2,796; FICA - $2,595; Total - $6,231. Alberta - Province - $1,270; Federal - $2,977; CPP/EI - $1,863; Total - $6,110 The above assumes you are single and have no special exemptions or deductions other than the standard personal exemption.
