Is there a reason mimes choose to be silent?

I was reading an add for virgin moible and it had things ab mimes and howthey are desperate for interaction but cannot speak. is it like some religion thing, so they refuse to speak or are they just doing it for fun?

Mimes(unless mute) are only silent for their job. I think they are just drawn to it, like artists and dancers.

it depends on the company. I used to work for a company that payed that on Sundays and holidays. Usually after 40 hours you get time and a half though.
