I am planning to make a move into Atlanta,are they any good paying manufactoring job there?

I plan on the next one to 2 years at least right now I have a good job but need a change in my life.

Maybe I can help, I'm from PA and moved here in 1995. The days of good manufacturing jobs in Atlanta are gone. Here's why, around 1999 Atlanta experienced a wave of major corporate plant closings and layoffs ( Ford, GM, Lockheed Martin, Delta Jets, Coca Cola). Those highly paid union employees flooded the market, for ANY and EVERY remaining manufacturing job in town. Then Atlanta experienced a boom in the latino immigrant work force. They flooded the remaing low wage jobs in the agricultural industry ie (Purdue chicken plants, Wayerhouser paper mills) and ALL construction jobs. The name of the game in Atlanta is now local TRUCKING! The average is $18 an hour and most of the former union manufacturing people are now driving big rigs locally. If you want to remain in manufacturing, research Birmingham AL (KIA and Mitsubishi Auto) or Greenville SC (BMW Auto) or Savannah GA (Chemical Plants) are where you want to be. Don't be afraid of those towns, they are experiencing a wave of growth from northerners who are fleeing the congestion of Atlanta but want to remain in the south. Good Luck, You Can Do It!
