Does anyone know of any places that are hiring in the Atlanta area?

I have a 4 year psyc degree. I have retail/clerical/customer service experience. My options are open. I have tried all of the search engines and newspapers.

not sure if you've tried snagajob.com. if you haven't sign up on there and they will send you jobs that are open in your area. they've given me a lot of info.

Since jobs are advertised in these fields you may want to polish your resume a bit so that you do get the interviews you need and polish your interviewing skills so you get the job offers. Specific be sure it is neat of course and sensibly organized by date or type of job. Be sure to include one brief achievement statement with each position you held. Depending on what you did and what achievements were recognized that could be anything from received award for sales, helped organize returns to minimize waste, received attendance award, recognized for going the extra step to insure customer satisfaction. Most everyone has done something well. Show that in your resume to demonstrate your worth to the potential employer. Be prepared to customize your resume to emphasize the things each particular employer is looking for. DO NOT indicate you will do anything or take any old job even if you would at this point. Each employer wants to see you as specifically wanting to work with them and having something to contribute to them.

Practice interviewing with a friend or relative even if they have never hired anyone in their life they can still let you get past nervousness into confidence.

Check with your college placement office often. Check www.thejobsite.org for jobs with the state of GA. Right now under social services and counseling there are 5 metro Atlanta area jobs and others in surrounding areas for BA or less in Psych or other social services, Others in general support services, and probably some in other fields. Each county also has a web site listing jobs. Schools are looking for substitute teachers,

Use your contacts. Let everyone you know know you are looking for a job. Ask them to let you know about openings where they work, where their friends and family work etc.

Consider taking a less than ideal job perhaps in sales even something like vacumn sales, (Kirby, Electrolux, Rainbow). Resort sales (N GA Mountains look at www.whitecountynewwstelegraph.com) are all relatively easy to find. It is always easier to get a job when you are working than when you are out of work.
