How can I apply for section-8 in Georgia?

In GA Section 8 program is handled through the department of community afffairs. They have different application dates for each county. They open up a phone number to call on that date and you have about 1 hr to make a call to request an application. There are a very limited numbr of section 8 vouichers available and in some countiers especially the ones in and around a metro area they are very hard to get. In rural S GA counties they are easier to get. GA dept of Community affairs website is http://www.dca.state.ga.us/ look about midway on right for "Promoting Housing Options" to check on the county of your choice and on other possibilities. Their terminology is "housing choice vouchers"

Re job most Ga city and county newspapers are available on line and you can read classified ads there and contact ahead of time and get an idea of the job market where you want to be. You may also want to consider calling temporary employment agencies where you are now and seeing which have offices in the part of GA you are going to. Registering with them where you are, getting your skill tests and reference verifications done there etc. and maybe even working a short term assignment there will all speed up the process of working with one here. Many GA companies use the temp agencies to screen and hire new employees on a "temp to permanent" basis

Hi from checking with the Atlanta Housing Authority last month 07-2007 the waiting list is very full, names have not be pulled from the list since the Katrina, it was the same when I was in Florida last year. The person whom I talked to at AHA stated that "they are not sure when they will start back" but keep in touch with Atlanta Housing Authority, or just to their web site and check from there.
