What website do i go to to file for child support?

every state is different; call your county court clerks office and ask where is the 'child support' office. in some states, its with the Attorney General, in some states, they assign a 'Friend of The Court', etc etc.

mine is part of the probation dept, child support division. and if at any time your caseworker (or dept) isnt on the ball, pull rank on 'em and contact your states Regional FEDERAL Child Support Office....

here are the links you need, just click on your state and find what you need.

You need to to the DFCS office I believe. Or Department of Human resources

You need to go IN PERSON to your State Attorney General's Office - Child Support Division.

Those are good sites but the basic proceedure is to get a court support order first. In GA you do that through Superior Court.

If you are divorced or legally separated that may have been part of the divorce or separation decree. So you could already have your support order. If you need a support prder and have no money you can file a "petition of indigency" which is a short paper in which you say you can not pay for court costs and tell why. If you are getting TANF DFACS will probably help you get a support order but you may get it quicker yourself. GA legal Services is usually helpful and is free. You can find the nearest office in your Atlanta white pages phone book.

Once you have the support order the thing then is getting the parent to pay. GA is getting a lot better on this. You want the nearest Child Support Recovery office. Georgia State Government--Human Resources Department of, Rehabilitation Services Division of, Office of Child Support Recovery, Operations Support (404) 894-5898 can tell you where that is. You'll make an appointment. Fill out more papers, Let them make a copy of the support order from the court.

If you do not have a court support order and you think the absent parent may voluntarily agree to support you can try starting with Child Support Recovery. They can try to get a binding support agreement signed.

Child Spport recovery has some strong ways of motivation a parent to pay including getting a drivers license pulled or a tax refund held or even getting wages garnished. They are on your side. They can't work miracles but they have done very well for several of our clients.
