Is Macon, Ga a good place to live and work?

My husband and I are considering moving down there? We are in our mid-twenties with no children. Who would like to move somewhere nice and quiet.

Macon is part of a military base area (look up Warner Robbins GA in a search engine) so not exactly quiet in some ways but that depends on where you are comparing it to. The most important thing is to check for job availability. Onne place to do that and get a feel for the community is http://www.maconareaonline.com/ Another useful site would be www.macon.com

I was born there, if you wnat nice and quiet it is definately the place. Although its grown since i lived there, Its not a good place if you guys want a wide selection of activities, concerts, etc. if youre ready to settle down, its perfect.

I am from and live in Macon, GA. I havnt never seen no part of Georgia that aint buisy. You might now like it there. But somewhere like Haddock might be your idea. If you have kids, they'll go to Gray schools. Haddock aint that big. Gray is growing every day though. I lived in Gray for about 5 years and moved back to Macon. I went to Dames Ferry Ele. which was a good school, Clifton Ridge Middle School, which I aint been there in 3 years, and Gray Station Middle School, which looks JUST like Clifton Ridge and opened in January of 2006. And Jones County highschool, which has about 1,200 students that attend there (or more). Gray is growing every day like I said. But somewhere outside of Gray like Haddock, which is a small town might be a great place for you to live. But Macon is REAL crowded and a lot of Gangs are there. Daddy and me were friving down the road the other day and saw a Gang Territory sign, which was black shoes, hanging from power lines. I don't really like living in Macon. Whatever you do if you do move to Macon, is not go to Downtown Macon, or any big cities at night. There's gangs out, and drunk drivers and everything else. Expecially on Fridays and Saturdays. Hope my information helped you. :)

i wouldn't want to leave there the way that lady at the top talkin it's just a bunch of hillbilles
