Anyone else been ripped off by Ken's Stereo Junction in Macon? |
I had lightening strike my house and thinking this was a reputable store, bought the replacement stereo components there. As it was a lot of money, I asked the salesman what if the insurance company doesn't approve it? He said he had dealt with insurance companies and saw no problem. What about the return policy, I asked. He said as long as there was no physical damage I could return it. Among the items he sold me was a LCD TV for 1300 bucks which the insurance company orginally allowed me only $167.00. I think you misunderstood. These were items stuck by lightening and those items were replaced by new items at Ken's. Sounds like your problem is with the insurance company, not Ken's Stereo Junction. The salesman might not have known they can't take the item back. If there was something wrong with the item before the lightning strike, then ok, they should replace it, but unless you had lightning insurace, there isn't anything anyone can really do for you. Its just bad luck that your place got stuck by lightning. BTW, were the items unplugged from the wall during a storm? If not, then its not their fault, its your fault for not taking precautions to protect your valuables. Generally insurance will replace what you lost not what you'd like to upgrade to and they figure any equipment in your home was used at the time of loss. For the insurance issues go to www.inscomm.state.ga.us to get help in possibly getting more $ from them. If they paid some then obviously they do cover lightening. It sounds as if you tried to return the TV after you found it was not covered. For help with such consumer issues your best help may be GA Office of Consumer Affairs, 2 MLK Jr. Dr., Suite 356, Atlanta, GA 30334. www2.state.ga.us/gaoca Generally it is best to wait and see what you get from insurance and settle with them before getting replacements or repairs. |
