What do you know about Macon, Georgia?

I am considering relocating to Georgia and I would like to know some specifics about this area.

Good/Bad parts of town
Nightlife
Amusement
What to expect

I've lived in Macon my whole life. "It ain't as good as it once was!" Stay away from East and West Macon, and as far as South Macon goes, make sure it's deep south. North Macon is great, but a bit pricey, a prime example of getting what you pay for. There has been a lot of gang activity here recently, but hopefully, this too shall pass. Just today, there was a shooting six doors down from my house! I'm thinking it may be time to move. Check out Lizella or Crawford County, very close to Macon, but much more laid-back and quiet.

There are lots of things to do here. Georgia Music Hall of Fame, the Sports Museum, Harriett Tubman Museum, Ocmulgee Indian Mounds, & Museum of Arts & Sciences, to name a few. Night Life is pretty active as well, countless bars, clubs, & restaurants. Countless churches as well.

I think the best thing that came out of Macon Ga, is/was, the King of soul, the recently passed on, Hardest Working Man in Show Business, James Brown (Dec. 25th, 2006). There are lots of places on the south side of Macon that has come up and are pretty good places to live as well as to Party. The other sides of town can be exciting too, but you'd really have to do a searh on the Macon GA web-Site and get a first-hand look for yourself, in order to be able to put in and get back the info that you're craving. Have Fun, they have some really nice people there and it's really not that far from Atlanta, which is a good place to visit but not too fun to live...Good Luck.

macon is small and quaint. bout 45 minutes from atlanta on a good day. um i dont kno bout da excitement.
