Can Anyone Help Me Find a Job In Atlanta Before I Move There?

I'll be moving to Atlanta in the Fall and I'm looking for employment opportunities before I move there. I know the general Monster, Craigslist, CareerBuilder, etc. but I'm looking for a more general approach. I figure'd I would shoot this question to those that live in Atlanta who might have an idea of who would be hiring. I'm looking for steady work that pays decent. I have a background in Customer Service and Data Entry (excellent computer skills), and will be in either Alpharetta or Marietta.

Thanks for your help.

try Verizon wireless
hq is in Alpharetta, Ga. outside of Atlanta

Best source in that part of Atlanta is www.ajc.com (atlanta Journal Constitution) help wanted ads. Next best is to find temporary employmeny services in the area where you zre nopw that also have offices near Marietta or Alpharetta. Many Atlanta companies use temp services to fill so called Temp to perm positions in otherwords a person works at the co but as an employee of the temp service for a few months and then if they are a good worker they are offered employment by the co itself. Most temp services pay decently and offer benefits. By registering where you are now you can get all your skills and references checked out and someone transferring from another office of the same service almost always gets preference over someone who comes in fresh off the street and new in town.

Another good possibility is to start a portable job that you can do there part tiome for extra $ now and bring with you when you come here. We have something like that available right now. If you'd like to check it out please go to http.justiceforallchm.tripod.com This is a business of your own with a very low start up cost and excellent earning potential.

google employment agencies in the area you are looking to move into. Call them and fill out the applications online.

You can look at the Georgia Department of Labor's website:

http://www.dol.state.ga.us/

click on "Find a Job" and it will help you search for a job in the Atlanta area. You can even apply for a referral online. You need to set up an account, which shouldn't be too hard.

Well, I can't provide as much help with Marietta, but here are some of the biggest companies with campuses in the Alpharetta area...

Verizon (as mentioned above)
Sprint
Cingular (AT&T now I guess)
MCI
HP
Farmers Insurance
Aetna Insurance
Equifax
Alltel

These are all major employers that would hire people with customer service / data entry backgrounds. The good news is that in Alpharetta, there is typically pretty good demand for employees with your skill set, but there is a limited pool of workers willing to commute to Alpharetta. If you live in the area, this is great for you, but it is a hard place to commute TO.

Good luck.
