My boss my counter offer to keep me from quitting?

but I dont want to stay. How can I make it easier to leave without burning bridges. Help

Let the boss know that you appreciate the offer, but that you have decided to move onto other things (whatever those are) and that it is not because of money but is a matter of your own personal growth and experience. A great deal depends on why you are leaving and what you have told them. But be polite and kind but be firm.

Be honest and grateful. If the position isn't right for you, or you need to move on for professional reasons, say so.

"I hope you understand that this was a very hard decision to make, and I appreciate your offer. It just made it that much more difficult. I've decided that this is the right thing to do and hope that we have the opportunity to work together in the future. This position is something that I just feel like I need to take in order to continue my career."

Make sure you give proper notice and let them know you will help them prepare for the person that will take your place. Tell them it has nothing to do with them personally, you just want to try somthing new for a while. Say, "maybe in a year or so, I'll want to come back".

Let him counter offer and say that you need time to think about it.

What do you like about the other job you are going to or what more do you want from the current position that you arent getting that you would get at the next place? Maybe you can ask for everything that you deem is necessary to do the job right in your position.

Even with the counter offer you dont want to stay, let him make the offer anyway and say you need time to think. Let me know what he says, what he says depends greatly on what my answer would be.
