How do you know if you got the position? |
I just got a call last week Tuesday from a company I applied for a month ago. She asked me if I was still interested, and of course I said YES! She informed me that the orientation and filling out paper works will be on May 5 or 6. The building that this position was permitted to be at is no longer available. They are trying to get another building, but she'll let me know by this week or next week. I then asked her if I got the position, and she told me that she wanted to call me now so that I don't accept any other offers that I applied for. She said she didn't want to tell me more then she already knows, but she said that I'm a "person of interest". I'm so confused. What does that suppose to mean? I've already given my current employment a two weeks notice.... What do you think? Did I get the position? Today makes one week since the call. So should I call or e-mail them? HELP! For future reference, until they actually tell you that YOU GOT THE JOB, never ever give a 2 weeks notice yet. "A person of interest" means that she is interested on interviewing you. They haven't interviewed you yet so how can they decide to hire you? Sure you sent your resume but that is not enough. You already have a job now so I am sure you know how the process goes. I was wondering, what is the reason behind "The building that this position was permitted to be at is no longer available"? It sounds weird to me. It is either a scam or not a stable company, which means if you got hired you might lose the job soon. Just like they lost the building. Be really careful. Ask your friends, family, and co-workers about what they think about this. if you enjoy it a lot and it will not stress you out everyday. If you are a "person of interest", then you don't have the job. From the sounds of it they are working through some logistics in order to house the position. If she verbally confirmed an orientation date, that just means they want you to be available on those dates as soon as they finalize their internal issues. How rude. They are keeping you on the string and it sounds like it is because they are not sure they are going to have a building to work in. I would call her and tell her you want the position and that but that you need something definitive to make arrangements to be available. This is no way to start out a new job. If they will keep you in limbo on this imagine what they will do in other circumstances on the job. I think you have the position but they are dragging their feet and need to have their feet held to the fire on this one. Some corporations send out Acceptance letters, stating your starting date, training times, orientation day, starting pay all on legible company letterhead. |
