Can I go back for lesser pay?

Hey I asked for a raise in pay but my boss says he will do so after 6 months? How to politely tell him without hurting him that he has to give a raise now or I will quit immediately and maintain a friendly relation with him after resigning?

Flash back is that I want to re-enter a firm and boss offered me a lesser pay than I was drawing previously. I feel ashamed to go back for lesser pay. How to tell him he has to offer a higher pay now and not at a later time as I willl have to bear the humiliation of my co-employees for joining for lesser pay than before. How to be diplomatic and explain my position to him without hurting or even without rejecting the job offer outrightly.

Remember that you are a professional and self respect and individual dignity should not be sacrificed !!. The world is wide and employments knock at the door of a truly competent person like you. Going back for a lesser pay is an insult to your self respect.

Please quit the job !!

You sure can. Just sign here.

Sure, if you have little or no self respect not to mention a lesser amount of dignity ... why not?

It's your call Bubba!

After that self deprecating and humiliating episode trot down to Burger King and fill out an Application.

I would just say that you only feel like you could return if you were to do so under the same comditions as before, including pay. Then see what he says. If he won't increase your money then just say that you're sorry but you can't return.

Can't seems less confrontational than won't.

hey Amisha thats very simple to say,
Just tell him that you have got some other offer that you are considering.....After hearing this he will automatically give you a pay rise....try that keep me informed....

Unless you are completely desperate for money (like you have and illness or are getting ready to be evicted), do NOT go back for less pay. You will look bad in the eyes of your coworkers and, more importantly, it will make you feel bad about yourself.

The fact that your boss wants to pay you less than before is a bad sign. Do you feel that you will have a future at this company? Based on your question it doesn't sound like it. Maybe you should take your talents to a different organization, even if you have to start out making less, but have a chance to move up. Remember to think not just about the present, but also how you're positioning yourself for the future.

Good luck!
